STRAIGHT UP DOWNHILL
None of these bikes have any bags on them whatsoever... but I’m an equal-opportunity bike lover. As a former World Cup wrench, I used to work mostly XC events, but occasionally would spend time working DH races, including two World Championships. As a longtime photographer, downhill racing is super fun to watch - opportunities are everywhere!
In honor of MTB World Championships last weekend, I headed up to Purgatory (Durango’s local ski hill) for the simultaneous series final of the newly-revived Mountain States Cup. It’s excellent to see the MSC series back after a ~decade away… I haven’t raced an MSC event since 2008, but I’m happy they’re back and it looks like they’re crushing it.
Here are a few photos from the race. Glad to be back behind the shutter, after several months in the work asylum. It's about time to get my second biz - Freewheel Studios - rolling again now that bike season is cooling off. Would absolutely LOVE to combine my lifelong bicycle and camera passions into some bicycle shoot gigs, maybe I can make that happen at some point!
